What is Taptu?

Taptu is a search engine for your mobile phone. Get the search results you want on your phone, filter what's no good on your phone

You'll find all sorts of content like music, videos, images, trivia-style content, as well as web content. By giving you results which can happily be squeezed into small spaces, we make it easier for you to share things you love with your friends. Share what you find by email, SMS or via Twitter.

How does it work?

We trawl the internet for the very best stuff and provide search with the really useful ones first. When you click on a search result you don't get sent to the source - instead you get to see a preview to ensure it's exactly what you're looking for.

Will Taptu work on my phone? Do I have to install anything?

Yes, Taptu works on (almost) every phone. Theres no need to download any fancy applications, just point your mobile phones browser at Taptu.com and start searching.

What can I share and how?

You can share any search result you find on Taptu.

Once you are on a search result page, youll see SMS this and 1-Tap share to a friend. Log in, then you'll be able to share with your friends by importing your Gmail contacts, by email or through Twitter.

What's Twitter?

Twitter is a service for friends, family, and coworkers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

As a Taptu user, you can share your search results with your Twitter followers with a single tap. For more information about Twitter, visit www.twitter.com

My friend can share by SMS but I can't? Why is that?

Sharing by SMS is a feature that cant be used on phones from all manufacturers, but we are working on making it more widely available.

How do I give feedback or report a bug?

Please visit the Feedback page or email support@taptu.com, we read every message and will respond if you need help.

Will it cost anything to use Taptu?

Taptu is free to use but if you access via your mobile phone your carrier/network (e.g. Virgin Mobile, Vodafone, Verizon, etc) might charge you, it depends on your call plan/ tariff. Best to get on a cheap flat rate tariff if you havent got one already.

Taptu keeps pages and files as tiny as possible to use as little of your data quota and minimize any data charges. We're nice that way.

Carriers charge according to the amount of data you use when accessing the internet. This is different to, say, calling someone, where you are normally charged according to the number of minutes you spend on the phone. You'll either be on a pay-as-you-go, prepaid bundle or unlimited-use package with your carrier/network, so your charges will vary.

Is Taptu available all over the world and in other languages?

You can use Taptu all over the world, and it's also available in French, Italian, Spanish and German.

I just received an SMS from you. What is this? Who are you?

We only send you an SMS text if you give us your mobile number either on our web site or on Music Wall. All texts from Taptu are sent from +44 7930 223 519.

Will you spam me if I give you my phone number/email address?

Never. We hate spam too. We will only use your phone number to send you a message containing the information you requested and then we delete it.

When you create an account, your address is saved in the database for your next login, but will not be used for marketing purposes.

What are the rules for using Taptu?

All we ask is that you play nice. Use the service as much as you like, there are no limits as long as you're a human user. If youre thinking of using any automated service or script to access Taptu, why not get in touch at api@taptu.com?

How can I unsubscribe? / I don't want to hear from you.

We respect your privacy and do not email you unless you have requested information from us first, but you can email us at hello at taptu.com if you want to say goodbye, and we will ensure you don't hear from us again.

How do I get my site listed on Taptu?

Drop us an email on partners@taptu.com and well aim to index your site as soon as possible.

Where can I use the Taptu search?

Our search can be used on mobile, on your facebook profile as well as on the Taptu desktop site.

How can I add friends on Taptu?

You can add friends either from the Homepage, or if you've found an item you'd like to share, select the 1-Tap share to a friend link. Also, you can send to your Twitter feed, where all your friends can see what you've broadcast.

What part of my activity on Taptu can my friends see?

The friends you've added will only see what you've shared with them. You'll also be able to see stuff they've shared to you by selecting their name on the Homepage.

Can I save my searches privately?

If your mobile supports Cookies, all your queries are saved in the Recent Searches page. This means that the words you type are saved just for you, so you don't need to re-type them. You'll find Recent Searches on the homepage.

The keywords you enter are private and not shown to others.

Are you affiliated with anyone else?

No, Taptu is independent. We won't sell or share your data with any other companies.

What information do you keep on me? Where do you keep it? Why?

We collect anonymous information to help us make Taptu even better, and for some aspects of our service you may be asked to provide some personal information like an email address, but this is only to help you make the most of our service. We'd never abuse your privacy or snoop on you or do anything that would damage your trust in us. Check out our privacy policy here for more details
